SALT LAKE CITY — Those who work, live, or visit Salt Lake City on Friday night and Saturday morning should be aware of 5K and half marathon delays, said the Salt Lake City Police Department. There will be road closures during the 2023 Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon and 5K Race.
Closures will be effective while participants and spectators navigate the half marathon and 5K events, said the SLCPD in a press release. Officers will be stationed throughout the course during both events to ensure the safety of everyone involved.
The SLCPD advised community members to look at the course maps and prepare travel plans ahead of time to avoid areas affected by the events.
According to the Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series website, the marathon begins at 7 a.m. Saturday. Runners have four hours to complete the race.
The 5K is later in the day, starting at 6:30 p.m. Runners have one hour to finish the race.
The SLCPD reminded drivers to use extreme caution when traveling through the area. There will be a significant increase in pedestrian and vehicle traffic.
