Airplane pilot and student practicing engine failure drills experience engine failure

PROVO, Utah — The Utah County Sheriff’s Office said a small plane lost power and crashed on Wednesday morning near Allens Ranch Road south of Cedar Valley.
Sgt. Spencer Cannon said there were two people on board at the time of the crash. But neither the instructor pilot nor the student was injured.

Cannon said the plane was a single-engine Diamond Aircraft, DA20-C1. The two occupants were reportedly practicing engine failure drills, when they had an actual engine failure.
The airplane sustained minor damage.
