One person dead in a shooting in West Valley City

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — West Valley City police are investigating a shooting Friday afternoon that has left an adult male dead.
Police say the incident occurred in the area of 2800 West and 2700 South around 4:30 p.m. Law enforcement personnel also say there may have been a verbal confrontation between the suspect and victim, which ended in gunfire.

Police say the suspect has fled the scene. What led up to the shooting is unclear at this point, according to police.
