MAGNA, Utah — Multiple students were involved in fight during lunchtime at Cyprus High School on Wednesday.
A statement from Cyprus High Principal Josh LeRoy said the administration and Unified Police quickly responded, stopped the fight, and took the students into custody.
Then, according to Ben Horsley with Granite School District, while one of the students was detailed, a gun was found in their belongings.
LeRoy made it clear that no threats were made to the students or the school. The student who brought the weapon onto campus faces district-level suspension and administrative discipline for school safety violations.
Horsley said school officials did not enforce lockdown protocol, and that there was no disruption to the school day.
Police said an investigation continues.
