SANDY, Utah — Sandy police said a suspect and a bystander were hospitalized after an officer-involved shooting Thursday afternoon.
It happened near 9000 South and Monroe Street, an area just east of I-15.
Police told KSL they’d been following a car they’d determined was a stolen vehicle, but without their lights or sirens flashing.
Then, “the driver of the stolen vehicle decided to flee from our officers,” said Sgt. Greg Moffitt with Sandy City Police.
Moffit said that led them to 9000 South and Monroe Street, and an attempt by the driver of the stolen vehicle to evade police.
That’s when a motorcyclist was hit.
Moffit said they caught up with the suspect on a dead-end street, and not long after that, shots were fired.
The suspect was injured and taken to the hospital, as was the motorcycle driver according to police.
