Nationwide salmonella outbreak in cantaloupes infects 11 Utahns

SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Department of Health and Human Services announced Monday that the nationwide outbreak of salmonella in cantaloupes had affected at least 11 Utahns. A recall has been in place since November to try to control the outbreak.
The DHHS said five of the 11 people infected had to be hospitalized.
According to the Centers for Disease Control’s latest information, 302 people in the U.S. have been infected. Of those, 129 were hospitalized and four died.
