SAINT GEORGE, Utah — St. George, Utah, has been announced as the city with the 10th cleanest air in the nation, showing the city’s commitment to the environment and urban planning. The recognition comes as, quite literally, a breath of fresh air amidst growing concerns about air pollution in cities across the country.

The ranking comes from the American Lung Association’s “State of the Air” report. The report shows how hard St. George’s works to maintain clean air.

“When the climate is right and if we do good planning at the same time, you know, we can get clean air,” said Joe Thomas, Assistant State Air Quality Director. “The way our city planners are doing the city. They’re keeping equality in mind with cleaner cars on the road cleaner industry.”

Mother Nature has also played her part, with wind patterns aiding in the dispersion of pollutants, contributing to the city’s clean air quality.

Thomas also applauds the adoption of electric vehicles in St. George, which have reduced emissions and helped mitigate air pollution.

In contrast, Salt Lake City is 37th in the worst air quality category. This low ranking highlights the significance of St. George’s achievement and shows just how much our capital city grapples with air quality challenges.
