MOUNTAIN GREEN, Utah — The Utah Department of Transportation wants public input on a proposed interchange on I-84. The new interchange would be in Mountain Green, just east of South Weber.
“We get a mixture of commuter traffic and local traffic. We would like to change that,” said Mitch Shaw, a spokesperson for UDOT.
Shaw told KSL NewsRadio that an environmental assessment has begun. UDOT is examining whether the agency can extend Trappers Loop Road south to I-84, and turn that into a new interchange.
Shaw also said they would remove the current exit that takes people onto Old Highway Road. Shaw said that would effectively separate local drivers from people who want to take SR 167 toward Huntsville.
“We want people to be able to move freely and to get where they want to go without significant delays,” Shaw said.
There is no estimate as to how much this will all cost, since the department has just begun looking into the idea.
UDOT is taking public comment on the proposal until May 31. You can find where to leave a comment and more about the new proposed interchange on the project’s study website.
“People should have their voices heard and we want to hear from them,” Shaw said.
