MOAB, Utah — The National Park Service is asking for tips from the public to help find two people accused in a Canyonlands National Park theft. The couple stole artifacts in March.
In a news release, the NPS said two individuals, captured on trail cameras, entered a closed-off area at Cave Spring Cowboy Camp on March 23.
Furthermore, the release later stated the two, “removed artifacts from a cabinet, and handled historic harnesses in a manner that had potential to damage them.”
It’s unclear what exactly the individuals stole. The NPS’ spokesperson for this incident said no other information outside of what they shared in the release was available.
Rangers ask anyone who visited the area on March 23 around 5:30 p.m. to leave a tip with any information.
People can leave tips anonymously if desired.
You can leave a tip by calling or texting the NPS tip line at 888-653-0009. Additionally, people can submit tips online or via email.
The release read in part, “National parks are some of the most special, treasured, and protected areas of our country. To protect their natural and cultural resources for this and future generations, all visitors to national parks are expected to follow park laws and regulations and practice Leave No Trace principles to minimize their impact on park lands.”
This incident remains under investigation.
