MILLCREEK, UTAH – If you’ve been to Millcreek Common for skating, you’ve seen the Public Market on the west side of the rink.
What you may not have seen is the transformation that’s taken place. The space is now home to The New Americans International Market.
“It’s a place for resettled Americans, immigrants and refugees to be able to come into this community space.. and be able to share their handcrafted goods and packaged food with the community,” Business Development Manager Lacy Gill described in a video interview with KSL NewsRadio.
Part of the vision is to give vendors a platform to start their own businesses. Their partners, Salt Lake County and Spice Kitchen Incubator put out a call to action for prospective tenants.
Every booth offers its own unique offerings, like Mama Africa which sells a variety of local favorite hot sauces alongside a curated showcase of art.
“Her artwork is amazing, from family members and relatives that she has about her culture, life experiences and traditions.”
Team member Traci Nelson is grateful to their participants for showcasing where they’re from with the Millcreek community.
“I’m just so thankful they’ve opened up to allow us to share what they have to offer and where they’ve come from,” Nelson said.
The New Americans International Market is open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and will run through June 23.
