Salt Lake City’s fifth homicide for the year 2024

SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake City Police are investigating what they say is the fifth homicide in Salt Lake City for the year 2024, a deadly shooting in the Glendale neighborhood.
A call came into the Salt Lake City Police Department about several shots fired near 1800 W. Fortune Road at 4:03 a.m. Sunday.
When officers arrived at the scene, they said they found a 30-year-old man who had been shot. Police have identified this man as Nico Christopher Patino. They say he had died at the scene.
No arrests have been made in connection to this homicide. Police said there does not appear to be an imminent danger or threat to the community based on preliminary information.
Police are asking anyone with information to call 801-799-3000. Detectives said they believe witnesses did leave the scene before officers arrived.
