Missing and endangered man found deceased near Utah Lake

WEST JORDAN, Utah — Police found a missing and endangered man deceased after the West Jordan Police Department issued a Silver Alert and began a search for him.
According to Detective Rhonda Fields with the WJPD, 58-year-old Douglas Steadman was last seen on Friday, May 31 at around 2:30 p.m. Police said he was possibly wearing a black hat, jeans, white tennis shoes and a white shirt. He was likely driving a white 1991 Ford Ranger with a white shell on it.
Steadman had early-onset dementia, COPD and suffered from sleep deprivation according to police. He left without his required medication.
Additionally, police had information that Steadman had traveled through Spanish Fork Canyon, however he was last seen leaving West Jordan.
On Wednesday, June 5, the WJPD found Steadman deceased near Utah Lake. The Utah County Sheriff’s Office is now handling the investigation.
At this time, police do not suspect foul play.
The investigation is ongoing.
