Clearfield shooting leaves 18-year-old hospitalized

CLEARFIELD, Utah — An 18-year-old has been hospitalized for injuries received after being shot twice in a gun-related incident on Friday night.
Layton City Dispatch said they received multiple calls about a shotting near 25 E 1800 S in Clearfield at 10:09 p.m. According to a press release, those phone calls reported to the dispatch that a male was shot and there was a group of juveniles seen fleeing the area at the time of the incident.
Clearfield City Police Department was able to respond to the scene with other police agencies in the area, according to the press release.
Police said when they arrived at the scene, they found an 18-year-old male who had been shot twice below the hip area. Police said the victim was transported to a local hospital. He was later air lifted to another hospital for emergency surgery.
According to police, residents in the area of the shooting were advised to shelter in place for about one hour. The shelter in place call was put into effect while they searched for suspects involved in the shooting.
Police said three juveniles were detained after being located in a nearby area.
The shooting is reported to be under investigation while investigators attempt to identify who is responsible for the shooting. Police also said no arrests have been made at this time.
According to police, the 18-year-old that was shot is in stable condition at this time and is expected to survive.
