Community rallies for Taylorsville restaurant Los Tapatios after burglary

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah — The owner of Los Tapatios Taco Grill, a Mexican restaurant in Taylorsville, is trying to pick up the pieces and move forward after a burglary.
Los Tapatios owner Alejandro Maya got started by serving birria tacos in Rose Park.
“We started this business so we could share a little bit of our culture and our food,” Maya said.
Since then Los Tapatios has expanded to more locations, including the Taylorsville store which was robbed.
When employees arrived on Friday, June 21, to open the restaurant they noticed the back door was broken. Maya realized the restaurant had been burglarized.
“They’ve taken the DVR from the camera, the register box, some food, some supplies and inventory (and) speakers,” he said.
Maya didn’t realize that nobody had set the restaurant’s camera system to back up on the cloud. He hopes other business owners will learn from the situation.
Help from the community for Los Tapatios
Since sharing what happened on social media, Maya’s noticed more community support.
“We’ve just been getting so much support from so much people … The community seems like they’re coming out,” Maya said.
The Los Tapatios owners hope the community will come visit the restaurant and give their food a try to help recoup its losses.
“I mean, more than anything, I just want to invite you guys to come to Los Tapatios and give us a try,” Maya said.
