HERRIMAN, Utah — Hundreds of fish were found dead in a Herriman pond, closing it indefinitely.
According to the Utah Department of Natural Resources, they found around 500 dead fish in Cove Pond on Monday morning June 24. The majority of the dead fish were determined to be catfish, along with a few bluegills and green sunfish.
Faith Heaton Jolley with the DNR said the cause of death is unknown.
“We are coordinating with the Utah Department of Environmental Quality and local municipalities to determine the cause of death,” she said.
Jolley recommends that anglers fishing in the pond shouldn’t eat any fish they catch.
