SALT LAKE CITY — Parades are a popular way for cities to celebrate the Fourth of July. However, road closures can make holiday driving a headache. Plan your routes ahead of time to avoid some of the delays.

The City of West Jordan will close Redwood Road between 8000 S. and 7000 S. for its Grand Parade. In a press release, officials said the Fourth of July road closures will last from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

In Hurricane City, there will be closures on the morning of July 4th. While a post on Facebook did not say what times the closures will begin or end, it did say the parade begins at 8:30 a.m.

In Willard City, officials said there will be Fourth of July road closures from the west entrance of the post office on 200 S. to the intersection of 200 S. and 100 W.

The city urged drivers to plan accordingly.

Provo Police said road closures will begin at 6:30 a.m. for the Freedom Run and parade. According to a post on Facebook, the closures will be between 1230 N. University Ave. and 900 E. Center Street.

Parking on University Ave. is prohibited the night before.

The South Salt Lake parade will begin Thursday at 10 a.m. It originates at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building at 2280 S. 300 E. and moves south on 300 E. The parade continues onto 2700 S. and 500 E., ending at Fitts Park.

The Freedom Fest at Fitts Park celebration will begin after the parade.

Finally, Layton City said in a Facebook post that their parade route will close at 10 a.m. Additionally, there will be road closures on Wasatch Drive before a 10 p.m. fireworks display.

This is not a complete list of Fourth of July road closures related to parades. Check with your city for additional information.
