Utah leaders respond to shooting at Trump rally

SALT LAKE CITY — In the aftermath of an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, Utah leaders used X to weigh in on the Trump rally shooting.
On Saturday, an unidentified shooter reportedly fired several gunshots during a rally hosted by the former president in Pennsylvania.
In the aftermath of the Trump rally shooting, the former president was whisked off the stage. He was taken to a nearby hospital to receive medical attention.
Photos from the event show a wound on Trump’s ear.
An investigation is ongoing. According to the Associated Press, the suspected shooter and one audience member are dead. Two other audience members were critically injured.

In a second post on X, Gov. Cox also expressed gratitude for the secret service’s quick response.
Additionally, Senate president J. Stuart Adams released a statement, calling the shooting “deeply troubling.”

After the former president was confirmed to be safe and in good condition, Sen. Mitt Romney and Gov. Spencer Cox weighed in on the aftermath.

Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes used X to express his relief that the former president was okay, and to condemn political violence.
