FBI identifies gunman involved in apparent assassination attempt of former President Trump

SALT LAKE CITY — The suspected gunman involved with the apparent assassination attempt of former President Donald Trump has been identified by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
According to an FBI news release, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks was “the subject involved in the assassination attempt of former President Donald Trump.” The FBI stated that Crooks was from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania.
The shooting took place on Saturday at Trump’s campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania at 6:15 p.m., according to a press statement posted on Facebook by the United States Secret Service.
United States Secret Service Spokesperson, Anthony Guglielmi stated in the press statement that one spectator was killed in the shooting, and two others were critically injured.
“U.S. Secret Service personnel neutralized the shooter, who is now deceased,” The press statement said on Saturday. “U.S. Secret Service quickly responded with protective measures and the former president is safe and being evaluated.”
The FBI has stated that it is still actively investigating the shooting.
