Deadly car crash marks fifth traffic-related fatality for SLC in 2024

SALT LAKE CITY — A 50-year-old man died in a car accident on Saturday after police say the man lost control of his vehicle in the Glendale neighborhood and crashed.
The Salt Lake City Police Department said in a press release that the crash was reported to SLC911 at 4:26 a.m. Police said they found a man trapped in a Dodge Ram, which was reported to be on its side when police arrived at the scene near 1200 West 2100 South.
“Based on the preliminary investigation, detectives and officers believe the Dodge was driving east on 2100 South when the driver lost control,” the press release stated. “[The driver] drove through a fence then hit two parked pickup trucks causing the Dodge to roll.”
Salt Lake City Fire Department was able to get the man out of the car, however, SLCPD stated the man died at the scene.
Police said the crash in the Glendale neighborhood marks the fifth traffic-related fatality in 2024 for Salt Lake City.
