SUGAR HOUSE, Utah — Times have been tough for Sugar House Coffee. But the cafe is rolling with the punches and is grateful for people who have stepped up to help.
It’s been a rough couple of weeks for Sugar House Coffee. The entire building was tagged with graffiti, a car demolished its fence and took the bumper off another car and that’s not all, according to barista Aerie Robinson.
“It’s funny people have asked us, ‘Well was the guy who drove over your fence, drunk?'” Robinson said. “Well, it was nine in the morning, so we’re hoping not.”
In addition to the fence, the cafe has had umbrellas and several signs stolen, its AC went out and its fridge and prep table broke.
Robinson said some good things are happening. A GoFundMe account brought in double what they asked for. Along with this, the graffiti was repaired in 18 hours.
“With the graffiti, we were lucky enough that someone from the city actually came and painted over it for us within 18 hours, I think,” she said.
According to Robinson, Sugar House Coffee will use the funds to pay for other repairs. She hopes people keep coming in even though it’s difficult to get through the construction on 2100 South and the northbound-only traffic on 1100 East.
