SALT LAKE CITY — A man and a woman were injured early Saturday morning in what police are calling a gang-related shooting in downtown Salt Lake.
Officers heard the gunshots during an un-related call around 12:55 a.m. and responded immediately, Salt Lake City Police Department said in a news release
Police said they found the two victims, a man and a 24-year-old woman, near the intersection of Exchange Place and State Street. Officers said the man was found in a nearby parking lot, while the woman was found in a nearby business.
Both victims were taken to the hospital. Police said the man is in critical condition and the woman is stable with non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers also had to ask for more help as well from the Utah Highway Patrol to deal with several small fights that broke out at the scene.
SLCPD said the SLCPD Gang Unit is investigating this case. Additionally, police have asked anyone with any information to call 801-799-3000 and reference the case number 24-182377.
