LOGAN, Utah — Police have determined a bomb threat at the North Logan Walmart to be non-credible after police searched the store.
The threat said there would be a bomb placed at the North Logan Walmart on Aug. 11. North Park Police Department Chief, Kent Goodrich said police reacted by making sure the Walmart was evacuated in an abundance of caution.
The threat was sent to the FBI’s National Threat Operation Center at 1 a.m. early Sunday morning, according to police.
“We made contact with Walmart and the overnight administration there,” Goodrich said. “Walmart evacuated its employees, and then remained closed to the public for a few hours this morning as our detectives tracked down the lead that came in from that tip.”
Police with the NPPD and Chache County Sheriff’s Office searched Walmart, no threat was found during the search. Goodrich said the FBI also offered its services.
“We’re happy with Walmart, that they were able to work with us, and its management as well,” Goodrich said.
Detectives and officers with NPPD were able to identify a person of interest, a local Logan resident. This identification came after NTOC detectives identified the owner of the address where the tip came in.
Police said the person of interest is currently being questioned.
The North Logan Walmart was able to reopen to the public around 10:30 a.m.
