After some major flooding, more storms predicted for the weekend

SALT LAKE CITY — More thunderstorms are moving across Utah this weekend. KSL Meteorologist Kevin Eubank gave the details.
“Another surge of monsoonal moisture will come in from the south,” said Eubank.
This moisture will, again, trigger severe thunderstorms in several parts of Utah.
On Saturday the main effected area will be central southern Utah. It is predicted that they could get a quarter to a half inch of rain.
A flood watch has been issued for southern Utah.
The storms are suspected to then move more north, becoming lighter rain and possibly hail.
On Sunday another storm surge will happen in northern Utah, adding another quarter to a half inch of rain.
This could be an issue for places that are already flooding, but overall it shouldn’t be flooding as much as it has been.
Flood risk is still high, however.
“The national parks and many of the other state parks have said ‘hey listen, this is not the weekend to be out on a hike or going into the slot canyons,'” said Eubank.
It is recommend to hike on open trails rather than on canyon trails that could flood.
