OGDEN CANYON, Utah — Ogden Canyon has reopened after construction workers fixed a 36-inch main water pipeline that was leaking under SR 39.
Ogden City scheduled overnight construction for Monday and Wednesday night. It was during that construction when crews found the pipeline leak.
Ogden City said in a Facebook post on Tuesday that it was working on the pipeline and that the canyon was expected to be open that morning.
“It is anticipated that the canyon will be open by 10 a.m. [Tuesday morning],” the Facebook post said. “Thank you for your patience and consideration while crews work hard to keep our critical infrastructure fully operational.”
By Thursday morning, the city said to expect delays while its repaving the roadway.
“The canyon remains closed this morning while road crews backfill and re-pave the traffic impeding repair location back to safe conditions. There will be a several hour delay in opening the canyon during this process,” Ogden City said in another Facebook post. “Please plan ahead for an alternate route, and drive safely. Thank you for your consideration.”
