SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — The large booming noises heard across the Wasatch Front on Thursday came from Tooele Army Depot, said Salt Lake County Emergency Management.
The detonations are part of what officials called a routine operation to dispose of old military equipment.
These detonations happen each year, and usually begin in September. They can last through the end of October.
KSL received multiple calls about the noises from Salt Lake to Orem.
Reports from Salt Lake City and Sandy via Neighbors.ring.com confirmed the loud booming, and that the noises were shaking houses.
The loud booms heard in the salt lake valley are from Tooele Army Depot, they are conducting detonations in the south range & will soon wrap up. No threat.
