Taylorsville Police arrest man in stolen vehicle Thursday night

KEARNS, Utah — One man is in police custody after he fled from officers while driving a stolen vehicle Thursday night.
According to Sgt. Jake Hill with the Taylorsville Police Department, the incident began near a strip mall in the area of 4700 S. 4000 W.
Hill said police noticed the suspect, Tyce Rasmussen, in the stolen vehicle in the parking lot of a local Smith’s. Officers attempted to pin him in the parking lot but were unsuccessful. During all of this, Rasmussen “side swiped” a cop car, according to Hill.
Following this, in another attempt to stop Rasmussen, officers spiked his tires. However, Hill said he fled the parking lot after this.
Rasmussen ended up crashing the vehicle near 4800 W and hit a civilian car. Police were then able to capture Rasmussen and take him into arrest him.
There were no injuries to police, Rasmussen or civilians during the incident.
According to Hill, Rasmussen had several warrants out for his arrest.
