WASATCH COUNTY, Utah — The Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public for help finding a Jeep that was involved in a September 25 homicide.
A Facebook post from the Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office said the vehicle is a Jeep Gladiator or Rubicon.
KSL TV reported that the Sept. 25 homicide resulted in the death of Patrick Hayes. Police believe he was shot after a road rage incident. He died at the scene.
Hayes was a 61-year-old man living in Hideout, Utah.
According to the sheriff’s office, surveillance footage recorded at a Jordanelle State Park entrance showed Hayes’ vehicle, a blue 2022 Volkswagon Taos, stop. A Jeep stopped behind it.
The footage shows Hayes exiting his car and confronting the driver of the Jeep. Someone in the Jeep shot him and then the vehicle drove away, per the Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office.
Furthermore, damage on Hayes’ vehicle suggests that it may have been involved in a collision before his death.
Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed aggressive driving or a collision involving the described vehicles between 9:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. on Sept. 25 to contact them. They can be reached at (435) 654-1411.
