SALT LAKE CITY — It’s official. Salt Lake City hit 90 degrees for the first time ever in the month of October.
KSL Meteorologist Devan Masciulli says not to worry. This heat will be short-lived.
“This stretch of 90 degrees will only last one day, not into the weekend.” said Masciulli.
Today’s 90-degree mark makes our 80th day in the 90s of 2024. That’s a tie for the third-most 90-plus-degree days in one year for Salt Lake City.
Reaching 90 degrees or higher wouldn’t be unheard of in St. George for this time of year, but in Salt Lake City, it’s a unicorn.
In an average year, Salt Lake City would average 48 days that warm or warmer. We usually see the last 90-degree day around Sept. 8, according to the National Weather Service.
We should cool down to 79 degrees on Saturday with next week in the low- to mid-80s, according to the KSL 7-day forecast.
