HOLLADAY, Utah — Campaign signs are reportedly being stolen as Election Day approaches and tensions grow. One instance occurred in a Holladay neighborhood Thursday night.
Holladay resident Bill Pippas said he noticed a few houses that had signs on Thursday were missing the signs by Friday morning.
“Driving along Wander Lane before you hit Murray Holladay Road, I look over to the church and I saw some things sitting in the parking lot. So, I backed up and got out and sure enough they were Harris/Walz signs. There were probably 10 to 12 of them,” he said.
He said the Holladay community is “better than this.”
“People can express themselves,” he said. “[But] this one was a lady that’s on the corner up from me. And she put a nice sign out and they just ripped it down. And it was a banner it probably cost her money.”
Just a couple of weeks ago, similar incidents occurred in Bountiful where people found multiple Harris/Walz signs vandalized or stolen.
The Bountiful Police Department said people commonly steal or vandalize campaign signs during election years. They encourage anyone with doorbell camera footage of these kinds of incidents to contact their local police department.
