White substance found at Salt Lake County building deemed not harmful

SALT LAKE CITY — A white substance found on a ballot envelope at the Salt Lake County Government Center on Tuesday was deemed not harmful. The lieutenant governor said the incident was under investigation.
The Salt Lake City Fire Department tested the substance and found that it wasn’t harmful, KSL TV reported.
Lt. Gov. Deidre Henderson said in a post on X that the incident is being investigated and anyone attempting to intimidate election workers can expect to face criminal charges.
We are aware of the situation in Salt Lake County and commend the county clerk, her employees, and emergency personnel for acting swiftly to ensure the safety of those in the area.
