COTTONWOOD CANYONS, Utah — According to UDOT, their sticker program is working well this season.
The program is supposed to make driving through Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons just a bit easier.
You can get a sticker for your car by getting your tires and traction devices pre-inspected before going into the canyon. Then you get waived through the check station at the bottom of the canyon.

Normally a driver would have to pull over, and wait in line, so police to look at tires and enforce the traction law. Now, the stickers saves time not only for the police but also everyone in line.
UDOT Roadway Operations Manager Jake Brown said now police can focus more on ill-prepared vehicles.
“That helps out tremendously. Because it keeps those types of vehicles without the proper tires out of the canyon. Which causes all of the delays. So its worked out really well,” said Brown
Additionally, Brown said that ill-equipped vehicles ending up on canyon roads could create more congestion than the inspection line at the mouth of the canyon.
“If you allow those vehicles to go up there, they are most likely going to spin out, lose traction, be slid off on the side of the road or be stuck in the middle of the lane which causes all the congestion and all the backups getting to the resorts,” said Brown.
