CLINTON, Davis Co. — Two men were shot dead in Clinton Thursday morning, according to the Clinton City Police Department.

On Saturday, the Clinton City Police Department identified the victim as 40-year-old Keith Miller, who was a guest at the residence, and the assailant as 35-year-old Jacob Pluim, who lived at the residence and also died.

Our sincere condolences to the families of those involved or affected by this incident. All parties are cooperating in the ongoing investigation. It is anticipated our next release will be mid-week,” the Clinton City Police Department said on Facebook.

In a Facebook post on Thursday from the Clinton City Police Department, officers said they responded to the area of 2250 North 2600 West at 1 a.m. on reports that shots were heard inside the home.

Upon arrival, officers said they discovered two male victims with gunshot wounds. One individual was found dead inside the residence, while the other was flown by medical helicopter and was pronounced dead after arriving at the hospital.

According to the Clinton City PD’s official release, Miller arrived at the residence in the evening as an invited guest. Later that evening, Miller attempted to leave when Pluim returned home. Then, Pluim confronted him and fired multiple shots, fatally wounding him.

In response to this initial incident, another adult male, who was uninvolved until that point, armed himself for protection. He attempted to communicate with Pluim, but due to Pluim’s actions, the male fired shots, killing Pluim.

Clinton Police said the Davis County Attorney’s Office reviewed the case and declined to file charges against the armed male who shot Pluim.
