Police: Man attempts to hit deputies with his car during domestic violence investigation

SALT LAKE CITY — While trying to flee from police, a domestic violence suspect allegedly attempted to run a deputy over and damaged two police cars.

Anthony Scott Zlomke, 32, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on suspicion of attempted assault against a police officer, aggravated assault resulting in serious bodily injury, and criminal mischief resulting in the loss of 1,500 to $4,999, according to the police affidavit.

On Monday, two Salt Lake County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a domestic situation where Zlomke was reported hitting his girlfriend with his fists.

According to the affidavit, two deputies arrived in marked patrol cars at the home. One of the deputies got out of their vehicle and was told by a witness that Zlomke was in a white Kia Sedan and trying to leave.

The deputy stated that Zlomke was “revving the engine and … placed the Kia in reverse. The car was coming towards me quickly. I moved my body out of the way as the Kia slammed into my vehicle, thus hitting the rear passenger side causing extensive damage.”

According to the affidavit, Zlomke shifted into drive and tried to escape on the sidewalk, where he rammed into the second deputy’s car, causing him to be stuck between the patrol car and an electrical pole.
