Weber State University is closer to its goal of becoming carbon neutral

OGDEN, Utah — Weber State University‘s second solar covered parking lot is now up and working, pushing the school closer to becoming carbon neutral.
The University is 10 years ahead of schedule to becoming carbon neutral and this second parking lot is one of the many projects the school has planned.
Weber Spokesperson Jennifer Bodine said the university used to be a major emitter but has now reduced its emissions by a lot.
“We’ve shown that careful planning and dedication to these commitments absolutely results in achieving your goal,” Bodine said.
These projects are funded by a loan from the university. The loan is then paid back by using all the money saved from the projects.
So far, WSU has been able to bring its natural gas use down to 46% and electricity consumption to 25%.
The school says it is 20 years away from being carbon neutral
