WASATCH FRONT – Gusty winds have caused problems on the streets and our sudden temperature change brought snow into the mountains.

Today Snowbird Ski Resort was forced to shut down because of the storm.

In Centerville and Park City officials warned gusty winds that downed powerlines caused fires and shut down roads.

Those winds didn’t just hit Northern Utah. Gusts up to 50 miles an hour were detected across the state, and moved steadily south as the day progressed.

Wind gust map compiled by the National Weather Service. See the full map here.

KSL Meteorologist Jodi Saeland explained the winds came in with the sudden temperature drop today, and will move out just as suddenly tonight.

“Quick in, quick out,” Saeland said, “We’re really just going to be left with the cooler temperatures tomorrow. Winds will not be an issue at all.”

Saeland also expects to see warmer temperatures move back into the state Sunday. By Monday she’s expecting highs to reach the seventies again.

“This is fall in Utah,” Saeland said, “It’s up down, up down.”
