Schools across Utah expecting walkouts Wednesday at 10AM

SALT LAKE CITY — Across the nation, students are planning to walk out of class to protest gun violence and demand action from adults to prevent more violence in schools. Here in Utah, the ACLU and the group Empower estimate around 20-30 schools in Utah could have some kind of walkout.

Some school districts emphasize this will be an unexcused absence without a parent’s note, and teachers could also face a consequence without planning ahead.

But other districts are actually planning activities and locations for the students during that time.

Others will have 17 minutes of silence, or a day of kindness and inclusion to try and create change.

We want to hear from you.
