SALT LAKE CITY — Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Utah will soon have a new place to worship.

President Russell M. Nelson concluded the 2018 Annual General Conference by revealing the planned locations of seven new temples. One is in Layton, Utah.

The six other locations are Salta, Argentina; Bengaluru, India; Managua, Nicaragua; Cagayan de Oro, Philippines; Richmond, Virginia; and a “major city” to be determined in Russia.

“At this time we have 159 functioning temples and more are under construction,” President Nelson said. “We want to bring temples closer to the expanding membership of the church.”

Announcements for Layton, Richmond, India and Russia each drew an audible response from the thousands of LDS Church members in attendance at the Conference Center in downtown Salt Lake City on Sunday afternoon.

President Nelson’s announcement of new temples capped a significant weekend for the LDS faith, with major changes announced to the structure of its priesthood quorums and the end of long-running home teaching and visiting teaching programs.

We want to hear from you.
