SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — Almost all students today were born after the 9/11 attacks, and a Utah congressman says they need their teachers, leaders, parents and more to tell them what happened.

The high school seniors were babies then, but almost every other student now in school was born after 2001.

Utah Congressman Chris Stewart spoke to some students on Tuesday in special assemblies, about the brave men and women who sacrificed everything for others and for their country on September 11, 2001.

Congressman Stewart presented Salt Lake’s Hillside Middle School with a flag that flew over the US Capitol, and talked with the students about some of the lessons learned 17 years ago today.

He shared the examples of the passengers on Flight 93, of a business owner in the Twin Towers who got thousands of people out in time, of a fellow Air Force pilot prepared to crash her plane to stop other attacks.

He also said this is a great country and he is full of hope for the future.

We want to hear from you.
