USOC visits SLC Wednesday...

SALT LAKE CITY — Utah has a chance Wednesday to make the case that we could host another Olympics. A team from the USOC is here for a site visit, with a lot of travel packed into a short amount of time.

“We are covering a lot of ground in a short period of time. We are going to show as much as we can, and we have some presentations and other things along the way,” says Jeff Robbins, President and CEO of the Utah Sports Commission. He says they have about nine hours to try to get everything in.

Robbins says they’ll go to The Olympic Oval in Kearns, Rice-Eccles Stadium, Vivint Smart Home Arena, the Convention and Visitors Bureau, then up to Park City and the Olympic Park. A trip to the Athletes Village at the University of Utah and the legislature for a special meeting are also in the works.

“A lot of stops and a lot of opportunities for us to show all the great things form the games that have been done since, and put our best foot forward for the members of the USOC who will be here,” he said.

The USOC is expected to decide by the end of the year which city to put forward as a bid for a future Olympics. They visited Denver on Tuesday; this week Reno-Tahoe dropped out of the running.
