Burning ban in effect in Salt Lake County

SALT LAKE COUNTY — The gunk in the air keeps getting thicker, and that has prompted Salt Lake County Health to put a burn ban into effect.
The mandate goes for fireplaces, heating stoves and outdoor fires. Burning for heat in an emergency or power failure is allowed.
Fines can start at $299, although first time offenders usually get warnings.
Air quality is “moderate” according to the KSL Weather forecast for much of the Wasatch Front, but “unhealthy for sensitive groups” around Salt Lake City proper.
Hopefully, storms at the end of Thanksgiving weekend will have us breathing easier.
