The Church of Jesus Christ announces four new missions

SALT LAKE CITY- Missionaries for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints now have four more possibilities when they receive their call from the Church, bringing the total number of missions worldwide to 399.
The Church announced Wednesday that it is creating four new missions and realigning the boundaries of 12 others set to take effect on July 1, 2019. The four new missions will be:
- Democratic Republic of the Congo Kinshasa East
- Guatemala Antigua
- Perú Limatambo
- Philippines Antipolo
The Church also announced that it will be realigning 12 other missions, a change that occurs fairly regularly based on the needs and demands of each area around the world. They say that this is “particularly the case as the number of missionaries has leveled off after the change in ages for missionary service took effect in 2012. The number of missionaries initially surged to over 88,000 before receding to 65,000 missionaries today, as expected.”
Those missions that will be seeing a boundary change are the:
- Argentina Posadas
- California Irvine
- California Long Beach
- California Rancho Cucamonga
- Canada Halifax
- Florida Tallahassee
- Georgia Macon
- Idaho Nampa
- Japan Sendai
- Korea Daejeon
- New York Utica
- Virginia Chesapeake
Further details on the changes will be communicated from the mission presidents of those affected missions to the parents of any missionaries that are going to be affected.
