Catholic Community Services helping those in Ogden affected by shutdown

OGDEN – Catholic Community Services in Ogden is handing out food to federal workers affected by the partial government shutdown.
The organization says they want to make sure no one goes hungry during it. All workers have to do is bring federal ID or a current pay stub Tuesday-Thursday from 9-11 a.m.
Director for Catholic Community Services, Maresha Bosgieter, says the thousands of IRS and National Parks workers affected by the shutdown are just like us.
“A lot of people live paycheck to paycheck,” said Bosgieter. “You have your bills spaced out during the month and you know this paycheck is going to be used to pay your mortgage and things can get really scary for them.
“So we want to try and help take a little of that burden off.”
Bosgieter says they feel it is one way to pay back their volunteers.
“We actually have lots of volunteers that come in and support us from the IRS,” Bosgieter said. “So for us to be able to turn around and help them out when they’re in a time of need is just wonderful.”
Ogden has around five-thousand IRS employees who don’t know when they will get their next paycheck.
