Jenny Wilson selected as Salt Lake County Mayor

SALT LAKE CITY — Former congressional candidate and city councilwoman Jenny Wilson will be finishing first term congressman Ben McAdams’ term as Salt Lake County Mayor.

Wilson’s selection was announced Saturday afternoon after she was selected as the winner of a special election by the Salt Lake County Democratic Central Committee. Wilson announced the appointment to her twitter followers, writing that she was “humbled and grateful.”

Governor Gary Herbert and congressman Ben McAdams also voiced their congratulations over twitter.

“I worked closely with [Wilson] as a councilwoman and know her to be a good listener and a leader,” McAdams wrote in a press release. “I’m confident that the job of maintaining a balanced budget, strong bond rating, and efficient services for county residents is in good hands.”

Wilson will be sworn in on Tuesday, January 29 at 11:00 a.m. at the Salt Lake County government building.
