SALT LAKE CITY — Two volunteers for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Russia are going in their third week of being detained in the port town of Novorossiysk.

A Church spokesman told KSL Newsradio Tuesday morning that there is no change in status for the two young men since their detaining on March 1st and their order to be deported a week later.

The Church said at that time that the two young men are being treated well, allowed to talk with their parents, and were in good spirits.

The Church has complied with Russia’s laws banning public missionary work which is why they call volunteers to support the membership of the church living in Russia instead of Missionaries.

The US State Department has said it is aware of the reports. Utah Senators Mitt Romney and Mike Lee and Representative John Curtis all offered their assistance.

We want to hear from you.
