Rep. Stewart to have access to more information on Mueller report

WASHINGTON D.C. – It’s the report that people have been waiting a long time to see. A redacted version of the Robert Mueller report will be released today. However, one Utah lawmaker will get to see more information that what will be available to the public.
Chris Stewart will see a version that doesn’t have as many redactions as the one the rest of us will be able to read.
He never believed that there would be any bombshells coming out of the report. He says the House conducted its own investigation into possible collusion, and came up with the same conclusion Mueller’s team did.
“We know that Mr. Mueller was looking at much of the same information and talking to much of the same people,” Stewart says.
He also says Mueller has already explained there will be no more indictments regarding collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign to win the 2016 presidential election.
“Clearly, if there is illegal behavior, [Mueller] would have had to pursue that and he would have had to pursue it with indictments. There’s no way he could release the report showing clear evidence of other illegal behavior and ignore it,” he adds.
Last month, Attorney General William Barr wrote that he and Deputy Attorney General decided there wasn’t enough evidence to show President Trump had obstructed justice. The statement also said there was no collusion between the president’s campaign and Russia. Stewart says Barr has a good reason not to lie about that.
“One is that an attorney general is a man of integrity,” Stewart says, adding, “It would be foolish of him to draw a conclusion that there isn’t conspiracy when he knows the report is going to be released and people will know if he’s telling the truth, or not.”
Stewart is also taking exception with statements made by New York Representative Jerry Nadler, who claims Barr is spinning the report in favor of President Trump and “cherry-picking” certain findings.
“Jerry Nadler has no idea if that’s true or not. He [hadn’t] seen the report,” Stewart says.
