It was at this church where a 71-year-old was playing the organ when she was attacked from behind as a teen tried to strangle her.

CENTERVILLE, Utah — Five months ago a 71-year-old was practicing the organ inside of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 270 N. and 300 E in Centerville when she was assaulted as someone came up behind her and attempted to strangle her.

Police said a rock had been thrown through a window on the east side of the church which is where the investigators believe the teen entered the building.

Today we’re learning that DNA evidence left at the scene has led to an arrest.

In a press release, Centerville Police said that they were able to get the DNA from evidence left behind that led to the arrest of a 17-year-old that lives in Centerville, but was arrested in Kaysville.

He has been booked into the Farmington Bay Juvenile Detention Center on one count of 2nd degree aggravated assault.

“We have informed the victim of this incident of the arrest,” the release said, “and she expressed relief. The person arrested is a juvenile, and therefore we will not be releasing his name at this time. There is no known relationship between the person arrested and the victim.”
