HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah — Hugs, kisses and tears of joy greeted 128 members of the 729th Air Control Squadron as they landed at Hill Air Force Base after seven months in the Middle East.
Sgt. Karl Jones was happy to see his three little girls, especially his youngest, who was only a few days old when he was sent overseas.
“When I left she was a completely different person. Completely different. It’s been great getting back and seeing this little smiley face. I’m just happy that she took to me!” Jones said.
The squad was doing aircraft control and surveillance across 1.1 million square miles of airspace, helping US forces defeat ISIS in Syria. They directed the tactical execution of the air component of the campaign.
The squad also provided maintenance on equipment in several combat zones.
