Former Utah congresswoman wants apology from President Trump

President Donald Trump’s recent tweet about the city of Baltimore has ruffled the feathers of fellow Republican and former Utah Congresswoman Mia Love. And she says the president should apologize.

“If the president is not racist, he should come out and say, ‘I am sorry. This is not what I meant by these words.’ But I haven’t seen any of that, and it’s disheartening,” Love told a CNN panel on Monday.

President Trump’s tweets about Maryland Congressman Elijah Cummings originated as scolding against what the president said was Cummings’ attitude about the southern border.

….As proven last week during a Congressional tour, the Border is clean, efficient & well run, just very crowded. Cumming District is a disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess. If he spent more time in Baltimore, maybe he could help clean up this very dangerous & filthy place

“Rep, Elijah Cummings has been a brutal bully, shouting and screaming at the great men & women of Border Patrol about conditions at the Southern Border, when actually his Baltimore district is FAR WORSE and more dangerous… Cumming District is a disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess,” the president tweeted.

“Why is so much money sent to the Elijah Cummings district when it is considered the worst run and most dangerous anywhere in the United States. No human being would want to live there. Where is all this money going? How much is stolen? Investigate this corrupt mess immediately!” Mr. Trump’s tweets concluded.

Love told CNN that such tweets are possibly racist and that they are dividing America.

“Enough is enough. It really is disheartening. The greatest threat we face is the division of America and I don’t believe that any president should be playing a part in dividing America,” Love said.

Love says that President Trump is muddying the Republican message.

“When you go after Americans, you can go after their policies, you can even go after when they say things that you disagree with,” Love said. “But when you actually … when your words hurt Americans and divide us? That is unacceptable.”

President Trump says that his comments were not racist and that it’s not racist to state plainly what most people already know.

There is nothing racist in stating plainly what most people already know, that Elijah Cummings has done a terrible job for the people of his district, and of Baltimore itself. Dems always play the race card when they are unable to win with facts. Shame!

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan is one of the latest to weigh in on the president’s tweets aimed at Baltimore. He called Mr. Trump’s tweets “outrageous and inappropriate,” and he reiterated Love’s assessment that enough is enough.
