SALT LAKE CITY — There’s a new push to get businesses to help their employees get vaccinated against Covid-19.

It’s a way Utah hopes to reach that 70% vaccination goal by July 4.

The Salt Lake Chamber sent a letter to 10,000 businesses in the new Bring it Home campaign. They hope those businesses will support employees who want to get a Covid-19 vaccine.

This new campaign is a partnership between the Chamber, the State of Utah, and the Utah Department of Health.

They say the companies could even hold a clinic on site.

These same businesses took part in the “Stay Safe to Stay Open” pledge last summer. It was a way to commit to remaining safe and open by following public health best practices.

“Our effort now is to ‘Bring It Home’ with a flash campaign that encourages the same businesses — as well as all Utah businesses — to assist their employees in protecting themselves, their families, and their place of business by getting vaccinated,” said Governor Spencer J. Cox, in announcing the campaign with the Salt Lake Chamber.

They are offering Covid education resources for those businesses.

“Business leaders throughout Utah have worked hard to protect their employees, customers, businesses and our economy during this pandemic,” said Derek Miller, president and CEO of the Salt Lake Chamber in a news release. “Now it’s time to ‘Bring it Home’ and help our state achieve a smart public health goal. This sprint to July 4th is not only essential and symbolic, as we can escape the virus through a collective effort and give added meaning to Independence Day.”

About 64% of Utahns ages 18 and up have received at least one dose so far, so health officials believe the July 4th goal of 70% is attainable.

The Health Department and Chamber also have new social media messaging and public service announcements to showcase trusted voices like doctors and health care providers and prominent business and community leaders.

“We are closer than ever to putting this pandemic behind us,” said Utah Department of Health executive director Rich Saunders in the news release. “If you’re still trying to decide about getting yourself or your kids vaccinated, please reach out to a trusted source like a doctor, a friend, or a family member for the information you need to make the right decision.”

We want to hear from you.
