The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a flash flood warning for the Cedar City and Enoch communities until Saturday at 6:30 p.m. Thunderstorms are expected to move out of the area late Saturday night.

Jesse Harris, a Cedar City resident, posted on Twitter that “Cedar City getting soaked again. Gutters got muddy fast.”

As of Saturday afternoon, the NWS had reported 1 to 2.5 inches of rain had already fallen in the Cedar City and Enoch communities.

This storm comes on the heels of a storm last week that caused widespread flooding. It forced Cedar City Mayor Maile Edwards to declare a state of emergency.

Other parts of southern Utah, including Hilldale are under a flash flood warning by the NWS until 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

In a flash flood warning, life threatening flooding of creeks, streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses can occur. Individuals caught in a flash flood must seek higher ground immediately.

There is a 58% chance for more rain in Cedar City on Sunday. However, drier conditions are forecasted for the next two weeks.
